The Sagardoy team took part in Laborium 2026, the 26th National Congress of the Spanish National Association of Employment Lawyers (ASNALA), held in León from 22 to 24 October. The event brought together more than 400 professionals to discuss some of the key developments and challenges currently facing employment and social security law.

As part of the Congress, our partner Alicia Moro Valentín-Gamazo, a member of ASNALA’s Board of Directors, moderated a round-table discussion on pay transparency, a particularly topical issue in light of the forthcoming changes to the regulatory framework.

The discussion examined pay transparency from three complementary perspectives: academic, judicial, and corporate, with contributions from Susana Rodríguez Escanciano, Professor of Employment and Social Security Law at the University of León; Rafael López Parada, Judge of the Social Chamber of the Spanish Supreme Court; and Olimpia del Águila Cazorla, Head of Equality and Social Security at the Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organisations (CEOE).

The panel also explored the main challenges surrounding the future implementation of the European Pay Transparency Directive, which aims to promote effective pay equality between women and men. Among the issues discussed were the new pay information requirements and the need to establish objective criteria for determining when different roles are of equal value, taking into account factors such as skills, effort, responsibility and working conditions.

Laborium 2026 provided a forum for legal practitioners, academics, judges and other legal professionals to share knowledge and reflect on some of the key issues currently shaping the world of employment law.
