Issue 10 of the Journal of Social and Business Law presents the findings of Project DER2016-76557-R, focused on the protection of health and caregiving from legal, economic, and gender perspectives. The volume examines the challenges posed by an ageing population, the sustainability of the healthcare system, and the universalization of care services.

Topics addressed include discrimination in maternity and paternity leave, the lack of protection for informal caregivers, and the gendered impact of pharmaceutical co-payment schemes. The issue also explores mechanisms for active retirement and the protection of self-employed workers at an advanced age.

The final section offers a comparative analysis of the Spanish and Italian pension systems. A reform is proposed to ensure well-being under conditions of equality, social justice, and long-term sustainability.
