February 2025

On the day of yesterday, the Royal Decree establishing the professional minimum wage for 2025 was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). The new amounts represent a 4.41% increase compared to those set in Royal Decree 145/2024, of February 6, which set the interprofessional minimum wage for 2024.

According to Article 1 of Royal Decree 87/2025, the amount of the interprofessional minimum wage for all activities in agriculture, industry, and services, regardless of the workers’ gender or age, increases from €37.8 (2024) to €39.47 per day (2025); and from €1,134 per month (2024) to €1,184 per month (2025), depending on whether the salary is set on a daily or monthly basis.

Regarding compensation and absorption under Article 27 of the Workers’ Statute (ET), Article 3.1 of the Royal Decree establishes that the revision of the minimum wage outlined therein will not affect the structure or amount of the professional salaries previously received by workers when such salaries, in total and on an annual basis, exceed the minimum wage. For this purpose, the annual minimum wage to be used for comparison will be the result of adding to the minimum wage set in Article 1 of this Royal Decree the earnings referred to in Article 2, concerning salary supplements, and in no case may this amount be considered lower than €16,576 per year (compared to €15,876 in 2024).

As for the remuneration set for temporary workers, as well as seasonal workers whose services to the same company do not exceed 120 days, they will receive, in addition to the aforementioned minimum wage, the proportional part of the remuneration for Sundays and holidays, as well as two extraordinary bonuses, to which every worker is entitled. These bonuses will correspond to the salary of thirty days for each, and the professional salary cannot be lower than €56.08 per legal workday (compared to €53.71 in 2024).

The minimum wage for household employees working by the hour, on an external regime, as well as for temporary and seasonal workers, including all remuneration concepts, will be €9.26 per hour worked (compared to €8.87 in 2024).

According to its third final provision, this Royal Decree will come into force the day after its publication in the Boletín Oficial del Estado (Official State Gazette), i.e., February 13; and will apply during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025.
