On 13 November, Sagardoy and UMIVALE Activa held a new edition of the Human Resources Forum, where once again the challenges, key factors and possible solutions related to corporate absenteeism were analysed. The event was opened by Martín Godino, Managing Partner at Sagardoy.

The session brought together experts and industry professionals who provided an overview of the current situation regarding temporary incapacity in Spain. The main conclusions of the study on the determinants of workplace absenteeism—carried out by Umivale Activa in collaboration with the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (Ivie)—were also presented.

After 25 years of qualitative research on the phenomenon of absenteeism in Spain, Umivale takes a step forward by presenting this quantitative report, which not only offers detailed data but also focuses on potential solutions.

Following the initial presentations by Raquel Sabe, Corporate Director at Umivale Activa, and Héctor Blasco, CEO of Umivale Activa, attendees participated in a panel discussion featuring: Rosa Santos, Director of Employment, Diversity and Social Protection at CEOE; Daniel García, Deputy Director-General for the Management of Temporary Incapacity and Economic Benefits within the Social Security system; Josefina Burguillos, representative of the Healthcare Services Inspectorate of the Andalusian Regional Government; Alberto Santos, HR Director for Iberia at the Prosegur Group; and José María Peiró, Professor Emeritus of Applied Psychology at the University of Valencia, who acted as moderator.

Ana Benavides, Chair of Umivale Activa, closed the session by emphasising that absenteeism is an issue that affects everyone. She noted that it is the main obstacle to Spain’s competitiveness and therefore a matter of national concern, underscoring the importance of it being prioritised by policymakers.
