This issue stems from the International Seminar on European Systems of Social Protection for Dependency, held in 2017 at the Rey Juan Carlos University. It analyzes the challenges faced by the Spanish system, particularly its financial sustainability, and proposes a reflection on its care model. Through a comparative study, the systems of Germany, France, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Portugal are examined, highlighting their structural differences and diverse approaches. The aim is to draw useful insights for improving the Spanish model. The need for a common European policy in response to population aging is emphasized. This work is part of an interdisciplinary research project.
